Treatment Of Acne With Vitamin E

Vitamins and minerals are essential components which are required by our body in small amounts for the proper functioning of different physiological and metabolic processes. The vitamins actually work as catalysts which speed up the processes. Among the different vitamins, vitamin E is considered good for the skin. Scientists have found out that the process of wound healing is slowed down if there is a deficiency of antioxidants like vitamin E.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant which helps the red blood corpuscles of our body to carry more oxygen so that they can fight the acne causing bacteria. It also helps to remove the dead cells from the pores of the skin and helps to keep the skin soft. It prevents the oil trapped in the pores of the skin from becoming hard. It also protects the cell membrane from any damage. Scientists and  researchers have conducted a study on two groups of people of different ages, all of them suffering from acne. One group was taking vitamin E and the other group was not. It was found that people who were given vitamin E suffered less from acne.

Another study has suggested that though vitamin E is good for the treatment of acne, topical use of this vitamin is not suitable for the treatment of acne scars. Instead, vitamin E should be consumed through the diet. Consumption of vitamin E through your diet has a positive effect on the skin’s healing process and in this way it reduces the acne scars.

Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin. It is obtained from different foods such as eggs, fish, green vegetables, sunflower seeds, sunflower oils, almond etc. It can also be purchased from the market in the capsule form. But the synthetic form is not as useful as the natural one. A daily intake of upto 1500 IU per day of this vitamin is allowed. As this vitamin is fat soluble, it is necessary that your diet should contain some fat to help in the absorption of this vitamin.
